Todat, for the third tirne within a month, the supreme court ot the United States . promulgated an opinion construing laws adversely to the contentions of "organized labor. The first of the decisions was ren dered on January 6, in the case of some railway employes who sought to secure damages under what is known as the employers' liability law, making railroads responsible . for injuries resulting from the neg ligence of fellow servants, . which law the court held to be uncon stitutional; the second was announ ced on January 23, when the. Erd- man arbitration act, forbidding the discharge of employes because they are members of labor unions, was also declared to be invalid.
