Feed your horses regularly three times daily, but never over feed. Water before feeding, but not while the hor&u is hot from work. Uso the whip very little, and never 'when the animal shies or stumbles. Never leavo horses standing unhitched. It is the way to make them runaways. Do not storm and fret. Be quiet and kind, and the horses will be so too, in most cases. Give the horses a largo stall and a good bed at night It is impor tant that he Ho down to rest. If a horse is vicious and unman ageable at your business, sell it to some one that can control him. Hay or other ground feed is 5n dispansable, and ground corn or hominy is better than whole corn. At the National Teachers' Association, the best educational exhibit was made by Missouri and received the first prize of $300. Grand old Missouri. Senator Vest says that it is useless to disguise the fact that the fight against protective tariff is a fight to tho death and that democrats would bo idiots to tako any other view of it. America of all countries in the world, offers the best oppor tunities to the poor man; and the most prosperous and progressive times tho nation has ever known, have been under n protective policy. Tho slight reduction of tho tariff on glass in 18S3 resulted in increased importations, increased the revenue, instead of i educing it, caused a number of glass works to close, and threw hundreds out of employment No Avonder the glass workers are against free trade.
