Wednesday, Febrnary 4, 1885, An^Ohio legislator proposes to make school books cheap by having them printed and bound in the penitentiary. The historic Liberty bell has been safely transported from- Philadelphia to New Orleans, where it is now a part of the great exposition, the admired of all admirers. Tom Duging, an old trapper living in the northern part of Michigan, was killed by wolves a few ights since, as he was returning home from a neigh bors. Ho shot and killed 13 before they killed him. The sale of the St. Paul Dispatch to Geo. K. Sh aw, late editor of the Minne apolis Journal, is announced by Capt. Castle. The latter retains the editorial management of the paper until the close of the present session of the legislature. Bro. Heatwole of the Northfield News wants the legislature to enact a law establishing the whipping-post for wife beaters. Wednesday, Febrnnry 11, 1885, Three weeks from will be inaugurated. to-day Cleveland A State Prohibition convention has been called to meet at Minneapolis on the 24th inst., to lay plans for future work. President Arthur has shown that he is as courteous as he is sensible by plac ing his own carriage at the disposal of ]Mr. Cleveland. The Michigan legislature is consider ing a bill which provides that the occu pation of every canditate on a ticket be printed opposite his name. The city of St Paul will tender a re ception and banquet to the Governor and members of the legislature on the evening of Februarv 18th. The count of the electoral votes for President and Vice President will be made by the U. S. Senate to-day. As there is no contest, it will be a very peaceable affair.
