f Our Children Teenager takes loose aim at future [Newspaper Article] — Belvedere Citizen / Eastside Journal — 2 April 1980
f Our Children Teenager takes loose aim at future By Willard Abraham, Ph.D. Copley News Service Q. Our son Is 17 and has no vocational goals at all. I think that’s a serious problem because I hate to see him start college with such a loose look at the future. He justifies his attitude by saying that he had read a lot of things which indicate that people change their work many times, so its old-fashioned to get "sucked Into” (his term) a Job Just to trade It In later on. I don’t agree with him, but don’t know how to handle the situation. Your assistance could be very useful to me. A. If a youngster fails to choose a vocational field because he or she doesn’t know which way to go, that is probably understandable But not to make a i decision because It may be I changed later’ on Is hardly ' sensible. § All of us face problems I every day and decide what 1 to do, with the hope that our • decision is a sound one. Time may prove us wrong, but it was still the best way to go at the time, o...
