The Presidi nt as appears from his Message lately submitted the propositions from the Mexican govetnment to the Senate. As we predicted a week or two since' they were found to be most favora- ble to Mexico and not (as stated in the Washington Re- gister) favorable to Texas. They are as we stated so vague so indefinite and withal so presumptuous that they would be spurned with contempt by every honorable Texian. And we have learned with pleasure that they have been unanimously rejected by the Senate. These propositions and the accompanying documents will soon be submitted to the public as the injunction of secrecy has been removed by the Senate. It is therefore unneces sary for us to comment upon them at length at this time The negotiations relating to them are by no means credit- able to our late Secretary of State Dr. Smith. It appears that he has even encouraged...

By this arrival 'we have received dates from Newf Orleans to the 21st inst. They contain the melancholy Intelligence of the death of Gen'l Jackson.
