■ '■■-S I Richard H. McCarty, Editor and Publisher Aspermont, Stonewall County, Texas, Thursday, June 13,1912 VoL 14. At the Altar of Wedlock. ¡ I On last Wednesday morning, Mr. Nyles Morris, the popular editor of the Jay ton Herald,, walked into our sanctum looking just a little bit sheepish, and we suspected there was something out of the ordinary going to hap- pen. After the usual talk about weather, crops, and the newspa- per business, Nyles informed the editor that he had decided to take a partner into his business, and that the partnership was to be for life, not only in his busi- ness, but into his home life. Of course all newspaper metí are strictly in favor ot wedlock, and we gave him our hand and con- gratulations on his wise decision and wise choice in the selection of a companion. So we escorted him down to the county clerk's office, where we found Miss Lola Lipscomb, the popular deputy clerk, on dufiy. We introduced Mr. Morris and informed Miss Lola of our mission. She ...

Stonewall County There is no better farming land in Texas than there is in Stonewall County, We have a diversity of soil in this county. We have the red sandy land the black hog wallow land, and in the west and north parts there is a belt of shinnefy land running across the county. This is the fruit and vegetable belt. It is adapted to raising all kinds fruits, Peaches Pears, Apricots, Plums and Grapes of all varieties do well. For Truck Farming this land can not be beaten in Texas, and it is fast develop- ing into a Truck Patch and Vineyard, The red and hog wallow lands in Stonewall county are adapted to the raising of Wheat and Oats, Corn, Milo Maize, Sorghum And The Best Cotton Land in the South. It will make from a quarter to half a bale of Cotton every year, and every once in a while and quite often it will make a bale of cotton per acre. Land in this county has made a much larger yield than the above, but of course, this is an abnormal crop. The land in Stonewall county is eas...

Following is the conclusion of an article on rain making, writ- ten by C. W. Post of Post City. The first installment of tbe storv appeared in last week's issue of the Star. Mr. Post says: ''Last year we used 2 pounds at a shot, but now we believe we get better results with 3 pounds at a shot.
