Moore, 83, of Wylie, were held June 11, 2006, at the First Christian Church in Wylie. Interment followed at the Wylie Cemetery. The Rev. Harold Hembree officiated. Mr. Moore died June 9. He was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Wylie to the late J.L. and Cora Moore. He mar- ried Kathleen Martin in May 1942 and they recently celebrated their 64th wed- ding anniversary. Haynes The Wylie Baseball Association has wrapped up another season of providing opportunities for more than 670 boys and girls to compete. The players, ranging in age from 4 to 15, competed on 49 different teams. The early rounds of double-elim- ination championship tournaments for the five leagues began the week of May 22 and culminated in the crowning of league champions June 3. All-Star teams will be announced June 15, and the teams will begin play approximately two weeks after. In the Junior League (13-15 year olds), the three Wylie teams com- peted against Garland teams during the regular season. Haynes Wylie has already qualified for a trip to the state 7-on-7 tournament, but the Pirates still need a lot of work if they hope to get beyond the opening rounds July 14-15 in College Station. The Pirates sent a modified squad to Rockwall Saturday for the Yellowjackets state qualifier. According to 7-on-7 rules, once a team has qualified for state, they are no longer eligible to advance beyond pool play. However, those three pool games can provide valu- able experience for a team. The Pirates will be at Grapevine June 17 and Arlington Bowie June 24. About two-thirds of the way through the 7-on-7 season, 36 teams have qualified for the 64-team state tournament.
