Tbe Gatton Trajjedy. A MISSION OF IDENTIFICATION. Gattok, Monday night. The Pan System. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 28 January 1899

The Pan System. Under tho above heading the ' West Kfacqi^afie ' last week vainly attempts to find f Avtlt with our civic fathers for the sani tary jaws tlip^- have made for the govern ment of the municipality. The abjoct aimed *t by the article undoubtedly to try aud make the outside public believe that Blay fiey, iiutea'J of beinj what it should bo in sauitary matleri, is the hotbed ot fever and disease. A most ignoble thing certainly for a newspapor to try and do. As we pointed out in our last issue, the sanitary state of Blayaey and its present municipal by-laws, if properly carried out, will compare favour ably with any inland town iu the colony. Clause 27 of tlia Municipalities Act of 1897 is ousted ia support of the views put forth by the ' West Slacquari?,' and this proves the utter ignorance of the writer of the Act tvhich he quotes, us c'ause 27 of the said Act does not refer to the matter at all, but Si til ply rtfeis to the annexation of increased area to a municipality....

From a Near By Tom WHAT THEY SAY IN ORANGE IS IHE SAME A3 THEY SAY HEKE. There is something novel in reading in cidents connected with the life of people in a neighbouring town. Even if these are of . the most trivial nature the fact of them being near neighbours makes them interes ting. When they give vent to tbeir feelings on a question that .concerns both places, the incidents are doubly interesting. Take the opinions on Doan's Backache Kidtrey Pills iu the neighbourhood, and compare them with what follovcs. This is only ono example but it is sufficient to prove the truth of the assertion. ' Mr. Matthew Gleason of Lord's Court, Orange, has lived there for a number of years. He tells us ' I hare been suffering from severe pains in tho small of tny back (the most frequent sign of kidney disorder) for tire months, aud have been unable to work during that time. Medical cars failed to cure uie, as also did some remedies which I tried. Having seen Doan's Backache Kidney Pills advertise...

Pastures and Stock Protection Board. [Newspaper Article] — The Blayney Advocate and Carcoar Herald — 28 January 1899

Pastures and Stock Protec tion Board. On our fourth page will be found the balance-sheet of the Pastures and Stock Protection Board of Carcoar, for the year ending 31st Decamber, 1898. Of the mag nitude of the work done by tho Board during tho past year, the figures speak for them selves, and wo congratulate the Board on tho large amount of work -they have achieved in the destruction of colonial pests, not withstanding the fact that tliero are a few ' croakora ' in certain parts of the district who arc ever ready to condemn the Board. It is very evident, however, that the Board have too much common sensa to allow the venom spit out by these ' croakers ' to pre vent theiu from carrying out their work of destruction in a highly aud most satisfactory manner. We would ask our readers to peruse the balance-sheet and form, their own conclusions on the matter.
