CONSCRIPTION + RESOLUTION BY HEW COUNCIL. CASTLEMADNE 'COUNCIL'S SUPPORT URGED. At last night's meeting of the boro ugh Council, a letter was received from the Kew 'Council, .asking the council to support the resolution pass ed .fry the Kew Council .urging the Go vernment to take into consideration the advisability of adopting conscrip tion. The resolution 'was as follows :— "That this council, recognising 1'ne critical position of the Empire, urges upon the Federal Government the nec essity for immediate conscription, as the only means of enabling Australia to take its .place with the sister nations in the groat struggle for freedom, and to do its duty to 'its brave son;?, who are so nobly fighting.for us." 'In view o'f the fact that the Govern ment was already taking action on the lines suggested, the council simply re ceived the letter.
