CAPE BRIDCEWATER. (From our correspondent.) The dry weather is causing some kinds of grasses to wither, but some of the native grasses are still wonderfully green, and would still grow if there was a good fall of rain. The late sown crops greatly benefited by the recent rain and have made a wonderful growth since. The water supply is causing some landowners anxiety, as the sup ply in wells is very limited and the level is lowering rapidly. The'milk supply is on the downgrade, in spite of the fact that the dairy herde are in good condition. The news of the destruction of the Gerinan raider Emdenby the H.M.A.S. Sydney aroused local interest more more tban usual; A former-resident; Mr. S. Thomson, junr., son of Mr. S S. Thomson, of Loch End, Lower Bridgeowater, is a member of the en gine room staff on the Sydney. Cleneig Election. MR. H. J. M. CAMPBELL AT PORTLAND. Mr. H, J. M. Campbell, the Liberal candidate, AIddressed a largely.attended meeting of the electors in the Free Library hall on Thursday evening. The Mayor (Or. Wyatt) occupied the chair, and congratulated Mr. Campbell on his improved heal~h, and said.tha; all would admit that during the nine years Mr. Campbell had represented them he had done well. He was a worker to the backbone, and bad done his share, in his nice. quiet way, in get ting the Government to carry out works for the benefit of this con stituency. Mr. Campbell, who was well received, said that in looking back over the nine years he had represented Glenelg he was not conscious of any failure of duty or of any promises unfulfilled.
