CORRESPONDENCE. To the Editor of the Traralgon Record. [Newspaper Article] — Traralgon Record — 24 December 1886

CORRE.S POX?DEVCE. To the Editor of the 7rara'?a Errd. Sir,-'Tis said one must go fromn home to hear news, and so hers in the heart of the Gippsland mountains I have just been told that the Tuardl;on shire is out in the cold in the matter of a share in the pros pecting vote. If this be so it is a great pity, for every part of the colony should, as fatras possible, derive some benefit from that vote. I have long seen, and my travels in New South Wales and South Austi;dia the more deeply impress it on my mind, that Victoria, to keep in the van .f progress, must do all that is p~osible to dilcover a.nd develop her gold deposits. Protection mamy b a panacea for everything in the estimation of some, but, sir, depend ulpo it the gold is tile only sure basis on which to build national p?roslerity, and the more I see of Victulia the more I am struck with the proldble vastness of her gold delposits. S rding today on the heights above the Aberfeldy I could not help exclairmig, " there will be...
