The councillors erpressod their pleasure that Councillor Wachtel was able to at tend the meeting, and that his recent operation had been successful. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence. Sundry advertising matter re road machinery, duplicaters, typewriter, etc.; received. Appeal from Adelaide Children's Hos pital for a continuance of council's sup port; resolved that the usual guinea be sent. Prom Local Government Department, advising that the tender , of A. One of the'most disastrous fires known qccucredat Woodside at about mlclnlght on Saturday night last As toiow it started is unknown: The drapery store of Mr. M. Wilson and the whole of its contents were totally destroyed. The flames quickly spread to the dwelling of Mr. It.Nors worfhy, senr., which joins the store, and-!;, the .dwelling was completely {pitted, and except for a few articles taken from the burning building hy willing helpers, the-whole of the furni ture" was "destrbyed. MANNUM RJFliE: opening or New raNge. For some time the committee of the Mannum Defence Rifle Club has been; busy attending to various details in con nection with the changing oyer to a new range. The dismantling-of the old range and the construction of the hew one has entailed a considerable amount of laborious work. The last shoot-held on the old range, opposite "the showgrounds, was on -December 18, 1926. Since then working, bees consisting of members of the. Rifle Club have, been hard at. work for several Saturdays, and last week a range up to 700 yards wsls ' completed. The Inspector of- Kifle Ranges (Lieut.
