We learn, this (Monday) morning, that a severe engagement took place yesterday, between the United States troops and a Rebel force supposed to be commanded by Imboden, in the vicinity of Charlestown, Va. In the early part of the day, a considerable number of Maryland _troops (Union) were captured, but after some hours of hard fighting the prisoners were recaptured, and the entire Rebel force •jyas repulsed with considerable loss in killed, wounded and prisoners. This battle which has resulted in checking Imboden, will give uaiB _j breathing spell, and we need h,ardly_^ear a rebel raid'at present.
