M. steamship America, from l.iv. oipool on Hoturday, May 23d, arrived here at 11 o'clock this morning, Her dates ar three days later than those received by the Canadi un at Ouebec, and the Glasgow at New York. GREAT BRITAIN. The Chancellor of the Exchequer had pro duced a sensation in the House or Commons by proposing that llio Princess Royal should Lave a marriage portion of 10.000, and an allowance of 8000 a year. The reigns of George II. and George III. were adduced as precedents as to the practico in such cafes. Mr. Roebuck regarded such proceduuts as absurd, and moved an amendment. The members of the House, however, were impatient to vote, and after Lord John Rus el had spoken against him, declined going to a division, and the moliou was agreed to. S. mail steamship Illinoii, which loft Aspinwall on tba 19th, armed at her wharf at 4 o'clock, thia afternoon. General Ilcnningsen and Col. Titos, two or General Walker'i staff, are among her passengers. The Illinois connected at Aspinwall with the Gulden Gate, which brought down near! two and a quarter million of dollars. Philip Johnson, of Northampton (Jo., Pre sident ol tho late Convention, took the chair, called the Convention to order, and invitee) the Vice Presidents and Secretaries of tho late Convention to take their scats. When the Convention was organized, the resident presented a communication from the Stato Committee, transmitting tho letter from Judge Kllis Lewis, resigning tho nomi nation for Supremo Judge. The communi cation was read and accepted, and ordered to incorporated with the proceedirgs.
