A Baton Rouge correspondent of the Shreveport Times has this to say concerning the school hb rearies in this State: A report has been received by J. B. Aswell, state superintendent of.education, from the different parishes showing the total num ber of libraries established to the different parishes of the state since the adJoiurnment of the General Assembly last year, when the new bill was pssed encourag ing the establishment of libraries by authorizing the school boards to make an appropriation of $10 for every library established in the different schools under its Jurisdiction, where an equal sum had been raised by the friends of this school for library purposes. This report shows a total num ber of 79L libraries established an the state during the past year, anad a total of $8,670.02 expended on these libraries.
