Obituary. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 2 March 1951

Obituary. The death took place at Ka numbra on Feb. 23rd, of Mr. Dav id Shaw, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. ]ames Shaw, Referring to the deceased we can truthfully state that there are few who have packed as much unselfish civic service into a busy life as did the late David John Shaw. He was interested in practically every public move ment in Yarck and district. It is little wonder that the people of the district turned out in such force to pay their respects to one :- who gave himself so freely for his neighbors. Born at Kanumbra some 63 years ago he.retained that interest right up to the time of his decease. The Alexandra District Hospital has lost an ardent supporter in his passing. All sporting fixtures in Yarck - and district listed for last Satur day were adjourned out of re spect to the deceased. The. flag at the Shire Hall, Alexandra,.was flown at half mast as a mdtk of respect to a worthy citizen'' After a service 'at the Presbv terian Church the cortege moved off to the Ya...
