TIHE ALPACA. Th the Editor of the Geldong Adrertirer and 1stll snter. Sir,-Oa leavrng Australia in May lest, we were exceedingly anxious to procure a few Aluens, in order to in trodiuce them into Australia, and we aneerrdinzly took considerable pains to coallect inifir,?tion rc arding them. We had heard that thlere were dil?culties to be met with in procuring them, but it was not until we arrived in Peru that we learaed the extent of these dilli calties. In order to prevent their exportation, the Governments of Perunt and Ecuador, a few rears ago. passed a law prohibiting it entirely, so that it is difficult even to procare: a sinale specimen as a curiositr. What could be done by bribery, in countries where the officials are so cor rupt as they are in the South American republics, is dificult to sav; but that mode of roeurin? them would not only be lhardous, hut nnpleasant and hu miliating to a right thinking person.
