KIANDRA. [Newspaper Article] — The Manaro Mercury, and Cooma and Bombala Advertiser — 1 January 1870

KIADRA [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] On the evening of the 22nd instant Mr. Montague, on behalf of Mr. Egan, addressed the electors of Kiandra at the Temperance Hall. There were about 60 persons assembled in the room.       Mr. J M Lett, J.P., was moved to the chair In acceding to the request he stated that his friend (Mr. Montague) perfectly understood that he, (the chairman) in no way identified himself with Mr. Egan. He trusted those present would give Mr. Montague or any other person who chose to address the meeting a fair and impartial hearing. Mr. Montague, in his opening address, said that those present had a just right to ask him what business he had there. On a former occasion, some five years since, he came amongst them on behalf of Mr. Martin. At that time he supported Mr. Martin in preference to either Mr. Grahame or Mr. Broadribb, because he then felt certain that the Land Laws would be more liberally dealt with by Mr. Martin than b...
