MULTUJf ICY 2UCE. NA eere finincial panic occurred on the New York Stock Exchangeu Last week. 100,000 bales of wool were sold in Lon don at the November-December sales. hMr MP'Hugh, editor of the "Sli o Champion," Ireland, and who wasarrest for making alleged incendiary speeches was discharged, the prosecution failing to establish the charge. The vacancy in the pastorate of Scots' Church, Melbourne, will probably be filled in the course of the next few months. Germai annexation of the islands in the Pacife srill continues. . The overland railway to Adeladoe will be opened on the 12th January. A number of drowning accidents ale reported from Sydney. The wrecked vessel Corangamite has been sold for £700. Reports are still to hand of good finds at the Teetulpa goldfields, but it is ques tionable whether they are reliable.

11.I TTIIEEW'S" CIRCUS. Lovers ef horsemanship and the mn:ny entertaining tricks of the saw dust arena had an opportunity of be holding such amusements on Wednes day night when Matthew Bros. World Circus opened for one night in Trar algon. There was a very good attend ance and young and old seemed to en joy the perfornamuce. The evenings amuslement commenced with the dog riding act, in which the dog Lion rode roundm the ring and did the feats usually done by human equestrians. Blondin next appeared and performed some very good feats on the tight rope. This perio?mer who is a pigmy, being scarcely three feet high, showed great cleverness in balancing, and carried a boy on his back, the lad being many inchestallerthan Ilondinhimself.
