Affray 'with Poachers in the Queen's Preserves. An affray with poachers occurred a few days since in the Queen's preserves, near Virginia W ater. Shortly after 5 o'clock in the morning a keeper named Foy ami a watcher namedffiggs beard the report of _« gun in Ofie of the Boyal preserves near Virginia A\ ater. On cautiously proceeding to the spot they saw four men two of them with guns. One had just shot n pheasant. On seeing the keepers the poachers ran away, but Hicks soon overtook one and keocked him down. 1 lie poacher got up, but Higgs knocked him down 11 second time, and was searching him, when he heard „ ,™ nf ' murder' from Fov. Breach of Promise Oases. A breach of promise case was tried in the Court of Exchequer yesterday. The plaintiff was Miss Einnia Yule, of Asylum-road, Peckliam, aud the defendant n clerk in the London and Liverpool Assurance Office, named Richardson. The engagement between the two commenced in 18G2, and froin that time until the end of 18G8 Miss Yule stated that she saw the defendant nearly every day when he was in London. A number of letters written by him during bis own or Miss Yule's absences from town were read. An attractive programme of sports had been published, and numbers proceeded to tho Sir Joseph Banks Hotel at an early hour, the 'baby show' being looked forward to with great interest.
