Owing to the heavy rain on 'Wednesday, the A.J.C. committee hold a consultation, and discussed the advisability of post poning Thursday's races, but the vote taken was in favour of adhering to the date originally fixed upon. At the pony meeting at Hiirlinghnm, on Saturday, there was considerable betting on one of the racos on Daphno and Czar ina, tlie latter heinir the favourite. Before tho start Czarina was found to be over weight, and consequently Dapline had a ?milk-over. The books refused to pay bets on the winner on tho grounds that in all events there must be a chance to win as well as a chance to lose. At the same time, however, thoy declined to return the money put on Czarina. _ The matter has been referred to the Victorion club for consideration.
