If you are faithful to your principles, and give, (as you have so far), a journal faithful to the interests of our country, success will crown your labors. We have felt the need of such a paper as the Herald for several years. LOCAL BREVITIES. Telegraphic news will be found on the fourth page. The woolen mills are turning out many fine suits of clothes. There Is talk of erecting several lumber yards out at Los Nietos soon. Persons having trees in front of their houses should have them trimmed. There was nothing doing iv the District or Probate Courts yesterday. No road tax is said to have been levied in this district. Will somebody tell why? Justice Trafford thinks the two Spaniards who ran into his wagon damaged it $299 worth. Charles Ayres washes his sheep in a hot soda spring. The lieeee comes out white and clean. Our daily edition has been exhausted several times within the past few days, before 9 o'clock. Capt. A Notice to Teachers. No provision having been made for a State Teachers' Institute, an institute term will be held in connection with the Normal School, beginning Tuesday. January 6, 1874, and ending Friday, January 23, 1874. The term is made somewhat shorter than the session last year, witli the hope that more teachers may be present during the entire session. The members of the institute will receive two hours Instruction per day from the faculty of the Normal School and others, upon subjects pertaining to tho duties of the school room; and in addition will have the privilege of attending any of tbe classes in the Normal School, and of witnessing the instruction in tne Model School. Washington, Nov. 24.—The Commissioner of Indian AJffiirs to-day sent the following telegram to Hayworth, the Indian Agent at Fort Sill in the Indian territory: uri " J - l Issue no more annuities to the Comanches; the demand for the Aye raiders is not remitted, and If not complied with within ten days after receipt of this dispatch you will stop their rations entirely; and If they still refuse they will be handed over to the military.
