May 12. Alfred Po- queite a French Canadian miner was caught by a cave-in at the Oliver shaft and is buried under several tons of wet earth. A force of miners is trying lo extricate him though it is almost a foregone conclusion that he is dead. A short time before the cae-in occurred th1 miners working at the place were warned of the danger and left with the exception of Poquette who said he would follow soon. James Krilly a mule driver at the Oliver mine whose foot became caugnt between a timber and an airpipe sus- tained a fracture of his leg. J.
