FRIDAY OCTOBER 25 1940 THE McMURRY WAR WHOOP Paec Thire Tee Pee By TROTT Tho season is hulf ovel ami our chances In football look pretty gloomy. I'd like to jump ahead and see whnt our hopes are in basketball. It would appear that McMurry will have a cage team that will do tho school Justice . We only lose one votcian fiom Inst yeai's team which mnde a fnir showing. Returning me I'oitei Willis among the leaders in conference scoring last year "Ix-vi" Gnirilt good on both defense and offense and Frazier Daimon a good de- fensive player. Dud Wheeler will also be good with a bit more ex- perience. All the above mention- ed arc Sophomores. Toppy Rcy- nlds Wvodrow Jackson and Bobby Morrison aro all veterans. They will probably be the backbone of the team. In addition there arc several transfers and freshmen any of which may make the start- ing lineup. With the experience and speed that the Tribe club will have It would seem that wc would have a conference winner. But TWO is back this yea...

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8 1940 THE McMURRY WAR WHOOP Pace Three Tee Pee Tattler By TROTT Theie seems to be n bit of n controversy as to wheth- er I should rctiuct u ccitain article 1 wnotc a couple of weeks ago. Let me say this. Uvciything 1 wrote was the truth. It might have huit but there was no false state- ments. However I can make this compniison. The team which trotted out on the D.U.C. field was as different fiiom the team in the Howard Payne game as good is from bad. The Tiibc went to Biownwood detei mined to win and win they did despite bad bleaks and 80 yards woith of penalt!"b. The team gained a new confidence in itself. The ground game was near pel feet the block- ing was neat and they discovered that a defense could be established despite Bialy's absence. The most impor- tant factor of all was Danuun's sudden gain of form. A word about Damron. He has shown this some drive in sciimmago many limes but he had failed to click in any game until bust Satin day. The statistics on the ...

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16 1940 THE McMURRY WAR WHOOP Pace Three POWERFUL KANGAROOS STOP INDIANS 19 TO 7 Tee Pee Tattler Hy TROTT (This column was written before the Austin frame. When I make any references to the last panic 1 am speaking of the homecoming affair.) There are a couple of interesting subjects that need to be biought before the house today. First Buck Mundy. There arc several people who owe him an apology. 1 for one do. When we heard that Mundy was coming down we more or less figured he would be another "Galloping Ghost." We made him a one-man riot in our minds. Wo had lJuck built up so high that when ho didn't pulverize the opposition wo were disappointed. Hut let me tell you something. Tony Mundy is the mainspring that has kept the tribe rocking along this season. Ton;' has played in a backfield full of Sophomores and Freshmen who are just now beginning to get that veteran feeling. His consistent punting has pulled McMurry out of several embarrassing positions. His defensi...
