Dips in the running surface have been filled in, and rough, sparsely grassed patches topdressed and re sown. Show Dates Clash Association Meeting at Yea At a meeting of the Upper Goul A. & P. Association held at Yea on Wednesday last, great difficulty was experienced in fixing dates for this year's Shows. Taking into con sideration Goulburn Valley fixtures, and Kilmore, and with Seymour adamant on claiming 10th Novem ber, only four Saturdays were free for five. Societies. DEPUTATION TO MELBOURNE. When correspondence was received at the Alexandra Shire Council meet ing last week, Cr. Briggs advocated a deputation to certain bodies in Mel bourne regarding same. "We can put the case to them" said Cr. Briggs. His remarks were readily endorsed and agreed to. President Davy, Crs. Briggs, Gird wood and Jones were appointed to the deputation. It was also agreed by councillors that correspondence on all matters be taken by the deputation. By this me thod the bodies concerned would know the true position.

SWIMMING BATHS. When a letter was received from Mr. W. Bell, president of the Alexan dra Swimming Club, enclosing a very nice donation towards lockers for the baths and enquiring when the work was to be commenced with the addi tion to the baths, the engineer said, in reply to Shire President Davy, that everything was arranged for the work but he was unable to obtain cement. President Davy replied that a ship ment of cement was due in March. The engineer said he would endea vor to get cement, but was of opinion that it was a little easier to get now. Cr. Briggs stated that he had given Mr. Bell an understanding that an ap proach should be made to the Public Works Department for a grant to wards the work of the club. The president and other councillors declaired that it was really worth while.

ENGINEER'S REPORT. Rocky Bridge Crossing, Ruffy (W. J. Fox and H. J. Fox) .-In progress. Sanitary Services, Alexandra and Thornton (K. Lond).-In progress. Rubbish Tip, Alexandra.-The tip has been at the back of the depot, and the area is full. A new site on the west side of the depot is nearly ready for uge; when it is, the old tip will be closed, the gate on the depot locked, and the.hotices of the tip removed to the new locality. The boundary road between Euroa and Alexandra is in very good condi tion, and no work is required on it at present. An inspection was made of creek crossings south-east of Crown allot ment 11, section D., parish of Ruffy, the boundary between the Alexandra Shire and the Goulburn Shire. Two farm bridges are required over two branches of the creek, and the cost of the two bridges will be £180. (These farm bridges could not comply with C.R.M. standards, therefore a grant would not be available.) Two bridges to C.R.B. standard would cost £700. If a grant were...

SANITARY CONTRACTOR GETS INCREASE. An application was made at the January meeting of the shire council for an increase of sixpence per pan per annum. The application was ;put to the Finance Committee, and the contractor was interviewed. The shire engineer stated that he was informed that the contractor would accept threepence. The Finance Committee dealt with the matter, and recommended an in crease of twopence. The council adopted the recommen dation of the committee.
