WHILE THE WORLD MOVES ON Balkans Issue Further Confused © The.' announcement this week of an. agreement between Bulgaria and Turkey appears to have still further confused rather than clarified the posi tion in the Balkans, as it may have been intense*!. At tho same time the agreement may have been signed with the most straight forward intentions, simply to abstain from aggression and to develop friendly -relations, both politi cally and economically. But who is going, to be the agressor against who,, and does tho agreement also' mean that Turkey will ignore the passage of German troops through Bul garia? This hardly appears likely. A German move is expected through Bul garia shortly. How will, this effect Turkey? It would be probably directed at Salonica with the object of forcinr Greece to accept an Italian peace) but if the aim. of Germany is to gain con trol of the Eastern .Mediterranean, then a direct attack on Turkey would have to be launched. A glance at the map shows that' co...

Smothering Of Weeds . CHANGED CONTROL SYSTEM SHEEP AS A FACTOR The outlook regarding- weeds is changing. The law used to say that those declared noxious in any shire must be eradicated, but experience has shown tha't complete eradication is often impracticable, and that some of them can be controlled by an alteration in the system 'of farming. This altered svstem is mainlv in the direction of intensive livestock husbandry on improved 'pastures, tho object being to smother the weeds by the use of lucerne and other pasture plants. Apart from the value of -such . plant's -: as lucerne and subterranean clover as sheej) feed,' they were also valuable in the light against erosion and the de cline in soil fertility. ?? ?.[?
