THE BROKEN HILL DISPUTE. Melbourne, June 4. The representatives of the Broken Hill mining companies who attended the conference with Mr. Justice Edmunds in Sydney, in the matter of the Broken Hill dispute, in reply to-night to state ments made by Messrs. Baddeley and Willis. of the Coal and Shale Employes' Federation, declare that the" "statement that the Broken Hill companies. had been guilty of a breach of faith in con nection with the conference, is a gross misrepresentation. Mr. Justice Ed munds. it is said, at the outset of the proceedings, intimated thai he had no authority to decide the matters in dis pute, and could only act to such an extent as the parties might mutually agree. On the suggestion of Mr. Bad deley. it was decided to have a round table conference, and both parties agreed to be bound by any decisions arrived at bv the conference. FIND OF SILVER LEAD ORE. - ALLEGED LOCALITY AT . . BAR-VITA STATION. ' PROPERTY NEAR CARRIET0N. Considerable interest was evinced in the city last week in a reported rich dis covery of rich silver and lead in the north of South Australia. The locality of the find was said to be 230 miles west of Broken Hill. That left most people in a quandary regarding the actual site of the £nd, but enquiries ? in authoritative sources repealed that the fiiM was made on the Baratta Station, near the . old Eukaby Mines. The-station is about 48 miles . east of Hfvker, and a few miles north east of Carrifton: The record of mines in South Aus tralia contains "an extended reference to the Eukaby mines. They were discov ered by Dr. Stephens on his sheep run at Eukaby Hill, and assays of the ore 70 .per cent, lead, 77 oz. silver, and 1 oz. 34 dft't 16. gr. gold n ton.
