The Bega Gazette. "Quod petis hic est." SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1868. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Gazette and Eden District or Southern Coast Advertiser — 11 April 1868

" Q,uol petis hie est." SATURDAY, APRIL II, 1868. The movement which fis now being made in Sydney to commemorate the signal deliverance of H.R.H. Prince Alfred from the hands of an assassin by the building of a Hospital to bear his name, is one which will commend itself to the consideration and liber ality of every class in the community. However much it has been attempted to connect the outrage with Fenian ism, nothing whatever has hitherto transpired to associate the assassin with any man or any set of men. The wretched individual, so far as present information has been fur bished, stands alone in his guilt, and it is satisfactory to know that the Prince has publicly expressed his be lief that the murderous onslaught did not pwe its origin to anv svstematic organisation. But although the stain of fie crime will attach to New South Wales for a time, the reproach cannot be permanent; and we are of opinion a happier and more fortunate iaea could not have been conceived than that of e...
