TOBACCO CURING. SINGLE LEAF SYSTEM. (By S. B. Opie, Field Officer, Depart : ment of Agriculture. It .appears that .curing of the leaf Is regarded somewhat as a nightmare by many, present tobacco farmers, and this tear may possibly influence pros pective growers of the crop, therefore, the following outline is paragraphed. It is freely admitted that curing is no ordinary task, but, at the same time, if attention is paid to' the preparatory work, no grower need have fear of tils operation. . As a guide to good curing, the farmer must take note of the follow ing important facts;— 1. See that all leaf picked for the barn Is ripe. Green leaf cannot be cured satisfactorily. 2. See that all the leaf hung in. the barn,is in an equal state of maturity. This will avoid confusion during cur ing. The curing of a barn containing leaf of various stages . of • maturity causes loss,-because the temperature cannot be regulated to suit various mature classes of leaf. 3. MURRAY BRIDGE POLICE COURT. Thursday, April 7. -(Before Messrs. C. H. Watts aiid G. R. Handley. J's.P.). Traveling Without a Ticket. Joseph .Walsh -was charged with , having on February 10, between Taplan and Murray Bridge, travelled on the railway without having paid the proper fare, con-' trary to the regulations of the Act. Detective Inspector Henderson, of the S.A Hallways Department, prosecuted, and defendant pleaded guilty. Detective Inspector Henderson said that defendant had ridden from Taplan to Murray Bridge without having paid his fare, and when seen to leave thetrain by a porter he stated that he had given his ticket to the conductor of the train, which was untrue. Defendant was fined £5 and coBts. total T 16/-, in default two months' imprison mnent- in the Adelaide Gaol. Fourteen days allowed to pay the fine.

Thompson) presented the following report:— "Gentlemen,—It gives me great , pleas ure to submit to you a brief report of the season's activities. 1 am pleased to be in the position to say that this is the most successful season we have had, both financially and the number of matches we have won. I am pleased to state that this is the .first that Mount.
