Shire President's Ruling. AND OTHER MATTERS. PRESIDENT CANTWELL REPLIES TO CR. WORTLEY. [Newspaper Article] — Donald Times — 16 June 1916

Shire President's Ruling. AND OTHER MATTERS. PRESIDENT CANTWELL RE PLIES TO CR. WORTLEY. At the Donald Shire Council meeting on Tuesday the Secretary read a communication from the Municipal Association stating that President Cantwell's ruling at a previous meeting — that certain matters discussed at the Council table were not in order—was per fectly correct. The Association had backed him up in his ruling. He had agreed to call a public meeting re conscription and hud distinctly stated at that table that he would lake no part in it. In the face of what he had stated it would have been a very in consistent action had he done so. The Council had no jurisdiction in passing the resolution re conscrip tion.
