CUP DAY. It was impossible to iinagino a pioro dis agreeable day for racing, as rain fell almost without intermission tho wholo of tho timo. The outlook from daybreak was anything bnt enticing, but nevertheless a fair number wit nessed tho racos. ' Tho roads wero as bad as it was possible to imagine, and the surround , ings altogether wero very disagreeable. His j Excellency Lord Carrington, Lady Carring ; ton, tho Marquis of Hnntly, Lord Dudley, and several friends of tho vice-regal party weropro sent, but owing to tho stato of affairs thoy wero unablo to movo about ns ia their custom. Under tho trying circumstances the officials got through their duties as well as could be expected. Tho only accidents that occurred wore in tho raco for tho Cup, owing to Sorolla and Nelson falling, but tho riders were unin jured, and tho downpour during the timo this raco was boing run was so heavy that it was almost impossible to discern ono horso from another. The track, considering tho recent wet weather, was in excellent ordor, and tho fields with tho exception of tho Autumn Stakes and tho St. Leger were lar^o, wliilo tlio condition of tho horsos who took .part was highly croditablo to their tcainerK. Punctually to time, 1 o'clock, tho starter sent the horses away for tho Hurdlo Raco, for which ton started, and Dragon turned up tho winner. Kaveusworth was well supported by his stable followers and tho public, and proved himself a good horse, but was not fortunato enough to got homo first. A protest was entered by Mr..
