07" The following endorsement, appear, etl on the back of a vote, cast by Elihu S, Evans, at the late Aigerine election in R. I. "No PRIRM4N BUT IN FiVOR OF A LAKB aOALTFICTION, AND A WHIG." Wiii«|jery in Rhode Island and Whiggery in Pennsylvania are the same. This is indisputable. There is a parly in this citf called Wnrkingr aen, composed of genuine huge paws and no mistake, and we believe there is not one of them who can call himself a "land-, holder," and this party is pursuing a course that mi ght tend if persisted in, to place in power, such men as the author of the a'ove sentiment. ft is a mystery to us how some men who work hard for their daily bread, can allow themselves to be galled b y a party, the leaders, of which publicly proclaim "from the house top" that they are in favor of a property qualification for voters, and fur the very eaga reason that none but propPrtr holdersTiave any interest in the welfare of the_country. v iglTant. We publish it with pleasure as we desire to do nothing but justice to ihe companies. As lo I heir dispute about "which beat," we will let them fight it out among ihemsehps . To the Edilors of the Morning Post. In your peper of yesterday, you givn an account of a trial of thrmving between the Duqnesne and the Vigilant, in which you state the former beat the latter 8 feet. I would beg leave to correct your statement, the Vigilant beat the Duquesne at least 5 feel; and as for spray, we always throw a solid body of water.^and not a spray, like our friends of the Duqupfne, as they count so much npi>n it, the Vigilant is onl y a second class Engine.
