Dr. Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock Holmes, -but he has' 11'eve'r taken a shot at the "discoverers" of Shakespeare-Ba con cyphers. Waterbury's conflagration gives the February fire loss a big start, more than offsetting the comparative shortness of the month. The ruins of the Iveeley laboratory at Dwight, which has been destroyed by lire, are now presumably a fair field for gold mining. The predicted quaking was all in the head of the St. Louis prophet, who ia now in a hospital where cracked heads receive special treatment. 'BONE LIBRARY." A Complete Collection of Skeletons of Animals Known to Science. The Wistiir icstitute of the University of Pennsylvania is now in possession ol a "Bone Library," which- is said to be tlio on!y oue of its kind in existence. The bones which make up this pecnliax library include the skeletons of almost -very animal known to science. Dr. •la.vne, who is at the heatkof the Wistai institute, has adopted an entirely new method of classifying and aranging these bones. Instead of mounting the com plete skeleton, as is commonly done, the skeleton is disarticulated and the bones are catalogued and placed in separate trays, following the order of cataloguing the books in the University library. l-»y this means it is made possible to study every bone in its proper class. The collection is so complete that the evolu tion of any particular animal can be studied through many generations. In the same way it is possible to trace out the relationiship to some allied animal. ])r. .Tay...
