- 10c Per Copy Vol XXXIX ENTHUSED OVER REPORTS KAMI Fl IE ROM MM E By WjHliam P DeWolfe Mining operators in the recently es tablished Katherine district in Union Pass are jubilant over the reported discovery of high grade ore on the 400 foot level of the 4000000 gold bonanza that Charles Sutro and as sociates of San Francisco are develop ing in the south end of the camp in proximity to the Colorado River The new strike was made in late June on the fourth level the deepest point of development in the miner at a point well to the east of the shaft and is said to show an abundance of gold in the free The vein there as on the levels above is a solid quartz replace ment of calcite in the granite and is said to be 27 feet wide between walls A lenz 7 feet wide carries a gold con tent of 220 a ton The strike on the lower level of the Katherine mine was antedated about two weeks ago by the discovery of high grade ore at a point 700 feet west of the shaft on the 200 foot level where a lenz 12...
