Roman Eye Balsam, FOR INFLAMED EYELIDS [Newspaper Article] — Marin Journal — 10 May 1862

Roman Eye Balsam, FOR INFLAMED EYELIDS And for the cure of Scrofulous Humors ftnd soreness surrounding, or near the eye. In all diseases of this character it is almost a certain cure.—The following extract from a letter just received, refers to one of the similar cases constantly reported; Jersy city, Oct. 29* A, 1859. Messers A. B. & D. Sands, Dear Sirs —l have for a number of years been troubled with sore and inflamed eye lids, which though they never caused me much pain, were very annoying on other accounts. I hae tried a number of medicines at different times without the slightest success. Seeing an advertisement of your Roman Eye Balsam, in spite of my scepticism, I resolved to get some, and at least try it. I am now writing this in the fullest gaatitude to inform you [I could almost send you a fifty dollar bill) that a few and only a few, applications have resulted in a complete cure. Itespectfully yours, L. ZABIUSKIE. Price 25 cts. per .Tar. For sale by ItEDINGTON...

MARIN COUNTY JOURNAL. [Newspaper Article] — Marin Journal — 10 May 1862

MARIN COUNTY JOURNAL. San Rafael, May 10, 1862. THE MILITARY SUPERVISION OF THE TELEGRAPH. — We extract the following letter from the Baltimore American, dated Washington, March 27. — The attempts that are made to connect the present supervision of the telegraph with the censorship, lately reported upon by a committee of Congress, render it proper to state, that the censorship of the telegraph was abolished by the Secretary War on taking military possession of the telegraph, and a military supervision of the telegraph established throughout the United States substituted. The duty of the Supervisor is to prevent the transmission of by telegraph of information concerning late, present or contemplated movements of the armies of the United States, and all other information of a military character that ought to be concealed from the enemy. In all that relates to political or private affairs, the telegraph is as completely un - restricted as it was before the commencement of the rebellion...

READ! READ!! itstuf the following certificate! andbe convinced: Gallinas, Sept. 15, 1861. To John De Fries, Ksq., San Rafael. I hereby certify that I have been afflicted with the most severe case of Rheumatism of a most unusual character, for several years, and during that period I have been advised and under the treatment of some of the most eminent physicians without the least benefit, and have been pronounced incurable by several of them. I was advised by a friend to try your treatment. I did so, as a la.-.t resort, as I was lame and helpless as an infant, and to my surprise and gratification 1 found myself cured and able to go to work in the short space of five weeks, and have been cured ai.d well now for about one year, and find your medicine most excellent and without any bad effort —the same as mercury or other medicine often has—and I can recommend your treatment to all those affected. Poetical. [Newspaper Article] — Marin Journal — 19 May 1862

Poetical. Original. What has life, that I should cliorish? "What has it given but hopes that perish? Where are the hopes th:-.*. brightly teamed? Gone like a dream that in youth I dreamed. Beautiful flowers that Bloomed v/itli the morn, AVithered and deJd 'ere the noon is bom— JEolian notes that enrapture the heart, But leave it to as the winds depart. Where is the love that I promised my soul? Where is the fame that time should unroll? Ilope's weary dove returns to the ark, The floods ate abroad and the heavens daru. Oh! life has grown such a burthen to bear, " It's rapid cheats and ceaseless care— I slacken my grief 'round the sable thread, For what does it weave but a faded shred! SHADOWS.
