It is occasion today for mass reveling, but there is enough good sense and enough .spirit- uality left that we are in no apparent dan- ger of a similar of that prohibition. Yet, let's look at oursHveB. When a new hope of joy supplants the terrible knowledge that one is neigh to the everlasting wrath of God, it would be oc- casion for rejoicing. STREET BEAT Christinas is about heiv a splendorous season, but one which strangely magnifies any distaste- l'u 1 conduct di) thf part of society. It's regrettable that there can be no moratorium on unkindness, hurt and sorrow at such times Hut the Invine scheme being what it is, any such suspension rests up- on the propensities of man . . . And man. we know can be a very difficult creature Charity abounds in the most part ol our people not the sup- erficial cloak of sanctity which the few gather about themselves. It is plain love and compassion, which are common to most of the human family. But contention deliberately pro- voked in conspicuous places is a consuming thing It is inexcusable first. because it is conceived in hate, and second, because is dem- onstrates a contempt for every- one else even the "littlest man" who would be grateful for one moment of perfect peace. Congratulations to Grady Roun- iree, Jimmy Connor, they were selected as quarterback and center respectively on...
