the " This Is truoliborty, when frooborn men, . Having to ndvlao the public, mity speak froo." Mix.ton. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1875. As' our readers are aware, wo have considered it our duty to tho elootora of this district to allude more tban once during tbo past few weeks to what we believed to bo tho iuaolent nncl ungrateful conduct of our member, Mr. W. Fobster, towards this constitu Bncy. In doing so, wo referred to tho manner in which he had iguorcd us in going to England, with a view to accepting the Agent-Goneralship, without consulting his constituents in any way whatever. As was. perhaps,1 to be expected, the lion. gentleman's supporters arid .colleagues triod. to soften tho boorisbness of: their -.friend*' by, firstly, publishing-, after his de-. parture, a farewell address purporting to come from him ; and by. secondly, stating that he had not gone to supplant Sir Charles Cowper. CUNGEGONG, COOTAMUNDRA       [FROM OUR OWN CORREPSONDENT] The five weeks pay on the railway line be tween Cootamundra and Bethungra took place yesterday. On Monday, the paymaster, es- corted by Senior-constable King, proceeds from Bethungra to Wagga. The object in having a five weeks' pay this time was to bring in the next two monthly payments before Christmas.   A good many wool tenms have passed   through during the last week. On Tuesday and Wednesday seven waggon loads (about forty tons in all) from Mr. Edward Flood's station, Midgeon, went through, the teamsters hoping to be able to unload at Gunning and save their bullocks sixty miles of metal, viz., to Goulburn and back. Shearing has commenced at Mr. T. O'Don nell's station at Cucumbla, four miles from Cootamundra, on tho Gunndagai road. A new building for a wool shed is about being com- menced there. The funeral of a settler named Maguire, who died very suddenly...

EDUCATION IN DRESS. (Victoria Magazine) [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Advertiser — 6 November 1875

EDUCATION IN DRESS. ( Victoria Mayazint.) No woman now thinks of what dress be comes her 119 on individual; no nge is too juvenile for rouge, or too old for flimsy and outrd decoration. "We have got what is called tho Grecian bend of the body, of late, as we suppose in imitation of the Medicean Venus, and now, viewing a woman from behind, 110 one can tell whether she is seventy or seventeen. From tho way in which the female form is made up, from the false hair streaming mer maid-like over the shoulder, let us look down to the toes, painfully compressed by pinching boots and unstrctcliablo lining!*, witii heels to ! match, clanking like wooden clogs, nnd throw ing the weight of the whole body, with its enormous humps and hoops 011 to their toes and fore part of the foot, the seeming giantess must surely prove a terrible dwarf to her husband, when divested of her garnishing. But men can now discuss and criticise female attire as if it were their own, especially young men, and they oug...
