AUSTRALIAN BUSH RANGING. — ~^*..;-.T.7.7..-^:-«i'— THE ZE^IE&X/X' ZD-A-'STS. ; By CHARLES WHITE. ' Chapter VIII. — Continued. Mr. Torpy was too bounceablc or he would not have been robbed. I should like to know if Mr. Pottinger would do so? I Bhsill answer for him by saying no. It has been said that it would be advisable to place a trap at each shanty along the road, to pitt a stop to the depredations done on thu road. I certainly think that it would be a great acquisition to me for I should then have an in crease of revolvers and carbines. When seven or eight men could do nothing with me at the Pinnacle, one would look well at a shanty. Throe of your troopers were at a house tho other night and got drinking and gambling till all hours. Mr. Justice Uraiiihnm ad vised tho jury if ever they got hold of a piece of cheese to finish.it. A new machine milker, invented by i.rr. G. Hutchinson, of Welling ton, N.Z., is said to do its work so offecti%'ely that tiie hand-stripping afterwards yields less than a quar ter of a pint for five cows. Tho new milker imitates the action of the hand milker, and not the suc tion of the calf. They are very severe in England on athletes guilty of fraud.
