LECTURETTE. I On Monday evening last, at the Salvation Army Barracks, Victoria street, Prahran, there was a very Urçe attendance, when Mr A. Drakard gave his popular lecture, "The Humorous ¡Side of Life." Senator Pearce, of West Australia, présidée1. As an opening number, Mr H. Cobb sang that fine old sons, ' The Ban ïo'ero," and it evoked warm approval ; indeed, it set the feal cn what proved to be a most successful evening. Mr T. Morphet was never io better voice when he Ejave Little Nell," and there was no denying the hearty recall, when " Forget-rre-Not" proved another excellent item. Miss Grant, by re quest, sang " Five O Clock Tea,'' and was deservedly applauied. Miss Amy Kingham as an accompaniste, was all that could be desired. MARRIAGE. LE MAISTRE-NICOLL.     The marriage of Mr Ernest Le Maistre, second son of Captain Le Maistre, of Charnwood road, St. Kilda, with Florence Evelyn, the   fourth daughter of Mr E. C. Princess May Tent, I.O.B. On Thursday evening this tent, which is the woman's branch con [ nected with the Pride of the Yarra Tent, LO R., celebrated its third anniversay in the Foresters' Hall, ; Chapel street, South Yarra, by a concert. There was a good atten dance, and Bro. John Vale, P.D.C.B.. occupied the chair and delivered an interesting address during the even ing. The programme was a good one, and included songs by Miss N. Blair, Miss E. Smith Miss Rennie, and Miss Ada Smith, also by Messrs Duncan, Ernest Trotman, Geo. Bradley and McClure ; two recita tions by Master Bert Bismire (both encored) ; two quartettes by the Cliff Street Quartette Party ; an overture by the Prahran Violin Quartette and a pianoforte duet by Misses Diamond and Beamsley. Bros. Marshall and Barkla proposed and seconded a hearty vote of thanks to the performers, and the programme concluded with the National Anthem.

Entertaining the Blind, The members of the Prahran Total Abstinence Society visited the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind on Monday evening last, and gave the pupils a programme of musical and elocutionary items, w lich was greatly appreciated by the audience, which numbered about ISO. The programme was as fol lows-Overture, by Miss Jones and Mr A. Fredrickson ; songs by Miss Tulloch and Messrs C. Smith, Cerutty and Metcalf; trio by Messrs Malcolm, Rose, and Edgecombe ; and duet by Misses McIntosh. Two songs by Master Samuels and Miss Tobin, both about six years of age, were specially attractive. Recita tions by Misses Fleiner, Byers, Bush and M Findley were nicely ren dered, and Master Bismire was loudly applauded for his rendering of "The Boy about the House." Armadale Social Centre. At the invitation of the committee of the Armadale Young Men's Social Centre a large company was present on the occasion of the second annual gymnastic display which was held at the gymnasium of the Centre on Thursday evening last. Mr West- more W. Stephens, hon. secretary, who pfeslded. made a few remarks during the evening appropriate to the occasion. An interesting programme of items was also rendered, among those taking part being Mr Speirs, who officiated as accompanist acd also contributed an overture, Mr Theo. Middleton and Mr S. Henry. The gymnastic display, which was well varitd, clearly demonstrated t ie excellent training the members had received from their instructor, Mr Linton, to whom much of the success of the excellent work shown is un- doubtedly due. The following communication was received from the Town Clerk of Caulfield - " The Premier (Mr Bent) has ex- pressed the Government's willing- ness to construct and work an electric tramway along Glenhuntly road, from the present St. Küdi Brigbton electric tramway at Point Ormond to Glenhuntly, upon the same terms (viz , 4$ per cent, guar- j antee) as in the case of the St.Kilda Brighton tramway. As the proposed tramway would pass through St. Kilda territory, I am directed to enquire of your council whether it is willing to join in the construction of it upon those terms, and, if so, to ask it to appoint four delegates to attend a conference to discuss the matter." On the motion of Cr Hughes, the communication was referred to the public works committee.
