Mr. Stephen said that police men in England were not allowed to vote, at parliamentary elections, and in view of this fact, and of the f act3 that police men are intelligent men, on the side of law and order, and that the Assembly hud already passed tho bill twice, he would vote for the. second reading. THE ELECTORAL- ROLLS. The general list of Parliamentary electors will be prepared during the week ending on August 1. This list is to comprise all names on the general and supplementary rolls, as well as tho names of those to whom electors' rights have been issued, but ; whose name3 do not appear on the roii. .aiter tne list is printed it will be publicly issued, so that objections may be lodged. The roll will be on exhibition for this purpose until September 20. The courts will sit during October for re vision purposes. By applying to the Court and producing his right, thehulder may have hi3 name inserted in the revised list. Electors' rights can be obtained at any time by those who have become qualified to receive them, or have lo.it their old rights, or have shifted to ano ther electorate. The School of Arts Building Committee contemplata holding a meeting shortly with the view of ascertaining the amount of funds available, and of considering es timates of cost of building.

DEATH. I Not uneapectedly, but with regret, we (Manaho Muncuny) learn of the death of Mr. John Byrne,' son of SubInspec tor Byrne, late of Cooma. It will bo remembered that tho deceased young man was in very poor' health while in Cooma, and it was on thia account that ma duu-iuspector aesired a removal. Every care that loving hands could be stow, and comfort that money could buy were lavished on the sick one, although j no ray of hope was held out to the fond family. On Friday lust a telegram was [ received of the ead event, and sympathy wes everywhere expressed for the parents and family on account of their bereave ment. '
