CiiAnACTBn.—Wo may judgo a men s character by what ho loves—what pleases him.— If a person manifests delight in low. sordid objects, tho vulgar song, and debasing language, in tho misfortunes of his fellows or animals, wo may nt once dotermino tho complexion of his character. On tho, contrary, if Up loves purity, modesty, truth—if virtuous pursuits cngago his heart and draw out his affections, wo aro satisfied that ho is an upright man. When we seo a man fond of fine clothes, / and making a fop of himself, it is a euro sign that ho thinks tho world confliets qf outside show, and ostentation, and ho is certain to inako an unstablo man without true affection or fricndship, fond of change and excitement, nnd soon wearying of those objects and pursuits which for a time giva him pleasure.
