I answered instantly and troly, that I would sooner sit in council with the six thousand dead, who had died of cholera in St. Louis, than go into convention willi such a gang of scamps, and that i my sentiment to-day. There is hut one principle on which the democracy and the Ctlhounitcs can meet in any ele...

New York Daily Tribune. This iufluentia political journal and admirable newspaper, readies us now nearly twice as largß aa it has heretofore been, in quarto form, with new and in some department larger and better type, and filled to overflowing with matter of that multiform character which has made its reputation and its publishers' fortunes. Tbe change took place on Wednesday last, when the Tribune commenced its tenth volume. Horace Greeley started the paper alone, and, hav ing on his own ehoulders both the editorial and business departments, had a bard struggle with it for a few months. But taking a partner, and having the good lock to get the right sort of a man. labors were divided, business system&tised, and all matters at ence moved on "swimmingly.
