V The Citizen. SATURDAY, ouToamt no. ists. roU DKLECATK TO CON OK ESS, H. S. STEVENS. Election, November 5. 1BT8. Why Ye Support H. S. Stevens. Tue CmzEs is In no sense a politf. cal paper, much less a partisan one. It is our ahn to advance the bet in terests of Arizona, and we have labored conscientiously to that end. Believing that H. S. Stevens is the best qualified candidate before the people for Dele gate, we have given him our support. Mr. Stevens has been Delegate now for three years and therefore he has Ween well tried and we defy any person at all acquainted with public affairs, to truth fully say that he has been found want ing. Mr. Stevens may not be a great orator or a great party leader, but we submit that about the last thing requir ed of a Delegate is to be a party lead er. To assume that a Delegate would be allowed to be one, even if he had the power, is a ridiculous assumption entertain! only by those who care to deal in the most glitlering generalities and who are ...

The Citizen. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER". 1S7S. FOB DELEGATE TO CONOltESS, H. S. STEVENS. Election, Nnvfr mbor 5. IS73. The Election. Next Tuesday will decide ihc ques tion as to who will hold local office in Arizona for tbc coming two years The canvass has been unusually active and exciting, and each candidate can rest now feeling that he has worked hard for success and that if defeat comes to him, he has done all possihle to prevent it. There has been perhaps too much hard-feeling and too much bitterness exhibited by some of the candidates and their friends, but while this must be regretted, it can scarcely be avoided. Yet we can not see why two men, always friendly, would deem themselves personal and vindictive en cmies because they aspire tp hold the same office. The right to run for office is one which every man possess es eauallv with his fellows and we deem it unwise, therefore, for any can didatc to consider a vote against him self as personal affront. The vote of Pima County will b...

The Citizen. SATURDAY. NOVEMBER 10. 187S. The Election. The election is over and the result so far as the Territory is concerned is still in doubt. We print elsewhere the returns, as far as we have them, of the vote for Delerate. leaving the whole county of 3Iohave, much of Yavapai, and several nrecincts in each of the other counties still to hear from. As was to be expected each candi date ran beat in his own county, but some of the results are indeed surpris ing. The contest seems to have nar. rowed down to H. S. Stevens and J. G. Campbell, one of whom will repre sent Arizona in Congress for the next two years, the chances being slightly in favor of 3Ir. Stevens, who accord ing to all accounts is slightly ahead with a strong probability of majori ties over Campbell in the principal precincts still to be beard from. The vote at Clifton is certaiu to be quite solid for 3Ir. Stevens and he as confi dent'.y expects the Mormon vote on the Little Colorado. With tlie.c in his la vor, the...

The Citizen. SATURDAY - NO VEJTBh'R 1C. 1STS. Respectfully Submitted. i There are some things about the late Territorial election that need no com ment but which we respectfully sub mit to our readers and the people gen erally for their consideration. Pima county cast 12S8 votes divided as follows: Stevens G69, Campbell 352, Davis 172. Woolsey 25. Yavapai county, leaving out the Lit tle Colorado and Clifton, which have about as much business relations with the rest of Yavapai as they have with Alaska except when taxes are to be paid, a census taken or election time rolls around, and taking in .Mohave county, cast 1456 votes as follows: Se vens 44, Campbell 603. Davis 705, Wool- gey 99. The Prcscott papers neverthe less charge sectionalism on the South Phenix cast a vote of 537, nearly as great as Tucson or Prescott. From private letters, written by parties of the most absolute reliability, we learn that 200 votes there were openly offered for sale on election day at two dollars each...
