Campbell has received informa tion from the hospital physician at Col lin Springs Wash., that his son, Rob't L. is seriously ill at that place. His right leg is broken and the lower poition ol his body and limbs are paralized. His spine is also affected. The doctor states that recovery is possible but adds that in case of recovery the patient will be a ripple for life. The cause of his con dition was not slated. His parents her are almost haertbroken over the sad news. Rob't has many friends here who will also be grieved to learn of his condition. Ritzville is becoming a popular place and the recorder's office the parlor for well-to-do traveling men to meet their lady loves and join hands in the holy band& of wedlock. LOCAL [VENTS OF THE WEEK roaBTHER WITH A PERSONAL MENTION OF THOSE IN THE nOVINO PANORAHA OP LOCAL HISTORY Lyman Johnson, a former resident of this place and son of Mrs. John J. John son, of Oakesdale, was drowned at Sand Point Saturday morning last, meeting sudden death by either walking or fall ing from passenger train No. 5 which was standing on the long bridge on Lake Pend D' Oreille. The body was soon recovered and was embalmed and shipped to Oakesdale. The deceased lived here many years with his parents who were early pioneers. He was 41 years of age and a single man. Surviv ors of the family besides his mother are three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. R. J. Neergerd, Mrs. Effie Secrist, and Miss Stella Johnson, of Oakesdale, Frank G. Johnson, of Downes, and Aldin H. Johnson, of Spokane. Another mass meeting of Adams county farmers was held at the court house on the 27th, and was largely at tended. The object of the meeting was to hear cota plaints of charges and alleged crimina tions against citizens by the Ritzville Electric Light Co. Philip Rowe, of Seattle, president of the company, H. Warner, the local manager, and Grant N. Tuttle, head electrician, were present in the interests of the company. A committee was appointed to investigate and act in connection with the city council. Smith, manager of the St. Paul & Tacoma Lumber Co. at Ritzville, was in the city Saturday in company with Herman Eshelman, manager of the same company at Alfalfa. Mr. Smith was agreeably surprised -to see such a substantial town where sage brush abounded when he last visited this section several months ago. The gentlemen drove out to Mr. Smith's farm about three miles east of town. —Granger News. A. C. Leabo went into the country this morning to prune fruit trees as spring is here and farmers will soon have to begin spring work. Mr. Leabo is figuring on selling his farm near Salem, Oregon, to invest the money in dwelling houses in this city. The demand for dwelling houses by farmers who wish to give their children the advantage of the Ritzville schools far exceeds the supply and good dwellings always command a good rental price and are always scarce.
