THE HEREFORD BRAID TWELVE THOÜSflHD HCBES Wheat Farmers Report Large Area for Hereford and Surrounding Country. CROP PROSPECTS LOOK GOOD. Reports From Every Section Indi- cate Percentage Conditions High. Next summer will witness one of the largest and finest wheat crops ever harvested in the Hereford country. This is said, of course, upon a hopeful anticipation that the conditions for a good crop will con- tinue to be as favorable as they have up to this date. With no unfavor- able conditions as existed last spring, the wheat will give a bumper yield and a fine sample. Not a farmer with whom The Brand reporter has talked (and he has interviewed a number from every section of the country), has made an unfavorable report. They all say the wheat looks fine. One man reported that he had been so busy taking care of his feed crops of 1907 and for lack of farm help, had been unable to get any wheat sown. This is a misfor- tune. The attention of The Brand readers is called to the reports fr...

This is the answer: Chas. N. Wilson, - president of the American Engineer- ing Company of New York, returned last Monday with A. D. Goodenougb, Manager of the Panhandle Short Line, who had been in the East for the past several days in the interest of the road, and they, in company with Geo. W. v - THE GREATEST QUESTION f Can an industrious man pay for a quarter section of land on the Plains of Texas by the products of the soil and at the same time support his family? ? The development of the country depends upon the answer to this question, it cannot be answered by speculators. The farmer who has had the experience and has put the soil to the actual test is the only competent witness. The Actual Settlers Association With Main Offices at Hereford, Texas is going to ask one Hundred farmers to answer this question with such force in their replies that there will be no vestage of doubt left. Actual Settlers This Association, recently formed for the purpose of locating Actual Settlers on small tracts of land, is entering a new field of development. Convinced of the richness and fertility of the soil of the Plains, the possibilities to be wrought by the actual farmer, the Association will expend its utmost energies in hunting out the man of small means, placing him on a quarter...
