PRESENTATION AT LAURISTON. MR. W. MORRISS. The greatest regret is felt in Lau riston at the departure of Mr. William Morriss, head teacher for the past   five years of the Lauriston State School, who has been promoted to be head master of Clarinda State School, near Oakleigh. Mr. Morriss, who is practically a native of the Kyneton district, by his industry, zeal and per sonality, has been enabled, in spite of the dwindling population of Lau riston, to keep the school average at tendance up very well, and has been instrumental in securing a sloyd room for the Lauriston State School. He also has been very succcssful in pre paring his pupils for departmental ex aminations. On Wednesday he was made the recipient of a farewell pre sentation, a handsome oak and silver inkstand, from the school committee, the parents, and the scholars. Rose and ^'em bers of the local club met the. yj^ifors at the railway station. After'pea sant day's shooting- victory went to the locals by 16 points. In the even ing- the visitors were entertained at the Town Hall. The tables were very prettily decorated by the lady sup porters of the club, and dainty re freshments. catered for by Mr. Lee. served. Mayor O'Sullivan, the presi dent of Malmsbury Rifle Club, pre sided, and had on his right Captain Lvlc. of Brunswick, and on his left Captain Rose, of Malmsbury. ENTERTAINED AT TEA. ? - A large number of the 85 delegates attending the Fellowship Union Con ference in Kvneton from Thursday, the 9th, till Monday, the 13th. were located at Kyneton House (Mrs Bar clay). On Monday evening at half past 5" o'clock they entertained the other delegates who were resident in various private homes and boarding establishments in the town to tea. Among the guests also were the Board of Management and the Ses sion of St. Andrew's Church and the Kyneton students. The tables were laid in the Temperance Hall and de corated with hawthorn berries and Virginia creeper. The chair was oc cupied hy Mr Anderson (president of the Fellowship Union Committee), and places of honor allotted to Mrs. Young, of Brunswick, the camp mo ther;/the Rev. Lithgow Tait and Mrs Tait.
