SHIPPING ITEMS. I The new schooner, the Violet Doepel, built and owned hy Captain P. Doepel of Bellin gen, crossed but. on her maiden voyage on Tuesday, with Captain Petersen in command. The vessel is finely rigged nnd carries a lot of sail, and as she was tmved out by the Alert she tool; gorel wishes for a lonu and success ful career wiih her. Captain Doepel goes with the vessel to Sydney oil this, her first trip. Some interest attaches to the trip be cause of a ivager of £5 aside between the captain and the captain of the schooner Mary Ellis, owned by ' Messrs. Ellis and Co., of Bellinger and Nambucca Heads. The Mary Ellis has 36,000 feet of timber on board, and the Violet Doepel 75,000 feet. Messrs. NAMBUCCA HEADS'. Our correspondent writes, — The steamer Rosedale floated off the spit last Saturday morning, nnd sailed for Sydney on Sunday morning. The steamers Euroka and Nam bucca also sailed by the same tide for Sydney. The Rosedale took away 900 bags of maize, tho Nambucea 1000 bags, and the Euroka 400 bags j also timber and sundries. The Rosedale called at Trial Bay and shipped 700 additional bags of maize, and crosse/l in at Sydney Heads an hour and a-half later ; han the Nambucca. . . News reach'ed here to day that the harbor works vote was- passed by a large' majority in Parliament. This will be'welcome news to the whole district.
