Women in Court. At the Prahran Court on Monday last, before Captain Panter aid Mr Hyslop, J s.P., Miss Clara Lines, shopkeeper, of Vicoria street, Windsor, summoned Mrs Winifred Wilson, a resident of the same street, with using insulting words towards her on the eveniug of October ist Mr Corr appeared for complainant and Mr Seton Williams for defen dant. Complainant's case was to the effect that defendant came to her shop and accused her of having sent a little girl to her to ask her about a sixpence she (defendant) had bor rowed from complainant some years ago- Complainant denied having done so. Miss Lines then al'eged that Mrs Wilson used the words complained of towards her without provocation. [ Mrs Florence Fenton said she was in Miss Lines's shop at the time. A knock came to the door. Prahran Perambulation Day. On Thursday iast Prahran coun cillors carried out the ancient castors of " beating the bounds " It was the annual perambulation day. The weather was none too ^ood for the occasion, as a hot wind came from all parts of the compass, and the dust was disagreeable. The councillors, however, who perambulated stuck to their posts manfully. -Those who participated in the tour were Crs Rupert Nicolson, Dobson, Flintott, Naylor, Bangs, Chambers and Kelly. The party was under the guidance of Mr W. Calder, (city surveyor and acting town clerk), and Mr Jno. Romanis, assistant town clerk. Mayor Upton was prevented from taking part owing to an important business engagement. Cricket Club Concerti. I ST. MARTUTS CRICKET CLUB. St. Martin's Cricket Club concert evening last proved a great success, the attendance being very large, and the programme presented one of high merit. The programme was well varied and very interesting, and all the items were well rendered and warmly applauded. Miss S. Obbinson favored with two well executed violin solos, and songs were excellently contributed by Miss Wnitehead, Miss N. Johnson, Mr T. A. Morpher, Mr C 3¿¡. Lawrence, Mr Edward Rijg, Mr T. W. Deakin, and Master Leslis Bryant. Miss E. Harris's mandolin -oio, with flute obligato, was very good, as was also Mr C E. Prahran Scottish Society. The usual monthly meeting of the Prahran Scottish Society was held in the Empire Hall, on Monday, the 7th instant, and took the form of a members' night, all the vocalists and other artists being connected with the society excepting the dancer, Mis3 Lily Dale, who came from Brunswick, and danced the Highland Fling and Shean Truibhais in good style. " Flora Macdonald's Lament " and " Scottish Blue Bells " were sung by Miss Fowler, who possesses a soprano voice of much sweetness, and which will improve with more platform experience. Miss Violet Semple, a pupil ot Professor Ives, sang " Afton Water '" and «' The Rowan Tree." This young lady's alto voice is of rich quality and pleasant tone, while her unaffected manner adds to the beauty of the Scotch songs. Mr W. On Monday evening the Senior Young Ladies' Class connected with the above school held a pleasant social in the schoolroom, at which the minister (Rev. W. Clemens) and the superintendent and officers of the school were also present.
