HEART AND HOME TALKS . So many hearts starve for the want of appreciation . There is nothing harder in life than to give of one s best , day after day , in thought and effort and receive no reward beyond what is doled grudgingly out , in wage to . the employe , in support to those who accepted the promise to love , honor and cherish . After the death of a good woman who had lived a long and useful life , who had borne and reared eight children , and cared for a partially invalid husband devotedly arid untiringly for many years , and who because of that care survived her , was given this word of commendation from him—more than he had ever given her in life— She was an awful clever woman ! Wei are told we have the reward of well doing . But the years ar . s long , and one wearies even of well doing when there are no evidences of appreciation . A little meed of praise now and then is snch a help in lifting and bearing the daily burdens that It should not be withheld . This apparent lac...

Nearly every inhabitant of the noisy , dirty , nervous city dreams of the summer days when he shall go out to a farm in the country to rest—just rest through and through , letting ail care and exertion fly to the -winds ; to lie beneath the apple tree In the shade and smell the red clover blooms all a-hum with the bees ; to Imbibe the crystal cool water that bubbles up from the white sand bottom of the spring under the willows ; to drink the cool rich milk from the deep pans in the milkhouseln the spring run ; to eat tho fresh berries poured over with rich Jersey cream , and the clear new honey just from the hive—and then to just rest and rest andrest between meals ! A Garden of Delight . A GARDEN OF DELIGHT . In planting a garden of flowers great care should be taken to arrange the beds artistically and in such a manner that they may be tended without trouble or danger of trampling on the plants . The general effect should be pleasing , for in glancing over a garden we do not note first the beautiful flowers , but the coloring , the paths , the bits of green , the mounds of white and purple , the bordered paths , the shrubbery , and lastly the fragrance and beauty of the blooms as we gather a bouquet for our dearest friend . Did you ever see a plot of ground set to garden vegetables , and , growing among the onions and cabbages , carnations , geraniums , asters , and sweet Williams , without a little chill going down your back ?
