This Is the Result of Exhaust ive Investigation BY JOURNAL OF STOCKMEN It Has Been Found In Some Soufhwest Districts the Past Five Years Less Have Been Raised Than Previously and Scarcity is Feared. Fort Worth. July 11.-The Texas ,tockman's Journal, the official organ of the Texas Cattle Raisers' associa tion, has just completed an exhaustive investigation of the number of cattle at present on Texas ranges with the view of finding whether or not a cattle shortage really exists. The results shows that the number of cattle now in the southwest has decreased from 10 to fil per cent in the past five years. In a few localities there has been no appreciable decrease and in southwest Texas an increase is reported. An other report, however, from about the same district tells of a decrease of 20 per cent. The shortage in the Pan handle is placed at 95,000 head in the past five years. In New Mexico the number cf cattle has decreased 60 per cent in that time and there is no...
